Selecting Best Keywords to Target

Posted by Unknown

Keyword research is most important part of any SEO campaign. Select wrong keywords to target and your entire SEO campaign will result in nothing but loss of time and efforts. Choosing the wrong keywords will force you to re-work your pages for new keywords and wait for the search engines to re-crawl your site. For this reason, a few hours trying to pick the right keywords is time well spent?

To start, take a look at your pages. Look at them carefully and write down the words and phrases that best define your site. Try to build a list of two or three word phrases using free keyword research tools like Google Adwords Keyword Tool. Once you have developed this list of potential keyphrases you are ready for the next step: to analyze the demand and supply for those keyphrases, and choose the best ones (those with good demand and not enough supply).

Here are some steps which can guide you through selection of best keywords to target.

Steps to select best keywords to target:

  1. Select the right keywords for each of your individual pages.
  2. The best keywords will be those that are popular search terms (terms that people actually search for), and that clearly describe the purpose and the content of your pages. They will also have to be keywords for which there is relatively low competition.
  3. The more specific your keyphrase, the easier it will be for your site to rank well. You should therefore target keyphrases with three or more words to significantly improve your chances.
  4. There is no sense in trying to optimize your pages for super-competitive keywords where you don't stand a chance of ranking well (most one-word keyphrases fall into this category: for example, it would be impossible to rank well for the keyword 'phone'). It would be better to target phrases like:
    1. 'mobile phone' - easier but still competitive
    2. 'smart mobile phones' - easier and less competitive
    3. 'business purpose phones' - easier and not as competitive.

Website SILO Structure

Posted by Unknown

While doing SEO of any website we talk and do a lot on on-page and off-page optimization. We optimize website’s title and Meta tags, its content; we use H1 and H2 heading tags. We focus a lot on link building and try to get relevant and quality back-links. But what is it that we still done rank on the chosen keywords. There’s one thing that we often ignore or just forget to include in our SEO strategy which is website SILO.

What is website SILO and how to implement it?

A silo is nothing fancy. It is actually a term coined by Bruce Clay. A silo is simply a category or folder in which you place web pages related to the topic of the silo. We can define SILO in laymen’s terms as creating a specific category (as a landing page) and then creating nested posts within that category to support the themed / topic through the collective relevance and authority of the documents. In a SILO website the pages link selectively in sequence (to the post before or to the next post) in the series of posts or nested pages. You can view the image below to get clearer picture of a good SILO structure for any website.
So a website SILO helps in better indexation of website pages and crawlers find it easy to crawl website. Thus it helps in improving rankings.

Appear Offline to Selected Friends in New Facebook Chat

Posted by Unknown

I have seen my friends on facebook who remain offline but still I see that they comment or send messages, and then there are others who just get irritated by pings from their friends on facebook chat but don’t know how to turn it off and then they are left with no other option but to logout. They are not able to chat even to those with whom they want to.

I have asked many people about this kind of behavior and they just say that they don’t want to talk to particular group of people or remain offline to colleagues during office hours. But they don’t exactly know how to do this, for them there is good news that facebook has already given a thought to this and this facility of getting offline for a particular group of friends is available for long.

Step-1: Create a list of friends on facebook

For doing this first of all you should create a list of friends. I will show you how to do this...

Strategy to follow while targeting broad keywords

Posted by Unknown

Keyword research is an important part of your SEO campaign, its very important to select right keywords to target, because selecting wrong keywords will lead to nothing but your efforts and money will go in vain. I have seen that people often select too broad keywords, having too much competition. In my opinion you should select such keywords only when you are a big corporation and you have a great  fan following who love to talk about you, because it will lead to automatic link building which is very essential while doing SEO.

Recently I came across one question which was like this:

I want to get the SERP of the keyword “iPhone application development”. Back links for this page is 27.

when I searched "iPhone application development" I saw that websites which were coming on top were having very good backlinks. So my opinion on this was:

In this competition should also be taken into consideration. If you search for “iPhone application development” on google.co.in (considering that you are targeting Indian market) then the first website which we are getting has the targeted keyword in the url itself and they have enormous backlinks too. So, if you are a start up its very difficult for you to rank for such a broad keyword in a short span of time because your competitors might also be doing SEO on a continuous basis and more over they might be having a good and satisfied clientele who might be active on social networks giving backlinks to your competitor.
So my recommendation for you is to make a good back linking strategy, start building links on a continuous basis and target other keywords too along with your broad search term "iphone application development". You can also use social media to your advantage as you are iphone apps developer.

Dealing with Google Suggestions beating competitors : Internet Marketing Strategy

How to remove Google Suggestions.

Almost everyone of you might have obsered that whenever we type something to search on Google in gives us related suggestions. Recently I came across a situation where competitors were using Google Suggestion to demote a brand. I exactly don't know the criteria that when does Google includes certain keyword or key phrase in its suggestions i.e., whether it takes it upon reaching certain number of results obtained upon searching that keyword or on being number of times it has been searched. Now, what my competitors did was that they either searched the keyword many times or provided much results with that keyword so that it began to appear in Google Suggestions. The keyword was "companyname complaints" and when you search this you get complaints against company and I am very much sure that these complaints were also posted by
competitors themselves. Now it was our task to remove the suggestion and we tried real hard but could not find a solution to the problem.

So, finally we decided to post some articles with something positive and we made sure that those articles come on top with same keyword with which competitors were demoting our brand.

So, friends their is solution to every problem and its said that when someone starts pulling your leg that means you are progressing.

Convert your weaknesses into Strengths.

Optimizing table tag, using summary attribute

Posted by Unknown

You might have often heard from search engine optmizers (SEO) that table tags are not a good thing to go for. They always recommend using <div> tag for structuring a website. Well I will also recommend <div> tag instead of <table> tag, but what to do when it becomes necessary to use <table> tag. Can we optimize it, if yes then how?

So here is the way to optimize <table> tag and get best results out of it in terms of getting good search engine rankings.

Use "summary" attribute, it serve the same purpose which "alt" attribute serve for image (<img>) tag. The summary attribute specifies the summary of the content of a table and it makes no visual difference in ordinary web browsers. Table summary attribute also provide structure for user agents rendering to non-visual media such as speech and Braille.

One example:

<table SUMMARY="Red, green and blue cells" border=1>

<tr>
<td bgcolor=red>&nbsp;</td>
<td bgcolor=green>&nbsp;</td>
<td bgcolor=blue>&nbsp;</td>
</tr>

</table>
